The problem of chest pain is often due to some kind of problem in the chest. During this, the person starts feeling various symptoms such as heaviness in the chest, sharp or less pain in the chest and prickling etc. In some people, due to chest pain, its effect extends to the neck and jaw. According to Ayurveda, chest pain occurs due to an imbalance of Kapha, Pitta or Vata in a person. In some people, chest pain occurs due to some major disease. In such a situation, people should contact the doctor immediately. Apart from this, if chest pain is the initial symptom then it can be cured by using some home remedies. Causes of Chest pain
A person has chest pain from one side or someone starts having pain in one half. This pain may be mild or severe. There are many reasons behind this. In most cases, chest pain is caused by gas or acidity. Apart from this, heart problems, infection in the lungs, oesophagus, muscles and ribs can also be due to a problem in the nerves. Let us have a look at the reasons for chest pain which are-
Stomach problem-
If there is any kind of problem in the stomach, chest pain starts arising. When gas builds up in the gallbladder and this gas moves towards the chest, chest pain starts. In this condition, taking antacid medicine reduces the pain. This problem mostly occurs while sleeping.
Lung-related disease-
One of the reasons for chest pain is also a lung infection or lung-related disease. During this, the pain is not in the middle of the chest but in the side. This pain is aggravated by breathing or coughing. Chest pain can also occur due to diseases like tuberculosis or pneumonia.
Pleuritis (inflammation of the inner walls of the chest)-
Inflammation in the inner walls of the chest also causes chest pain. If the membrane of the upper surface of the lungs becomes inflamed, then the air starts rubbing on breathing through the swollen surface of the inner wall of the chest due to which unbearable pain occurs in the chest of the person. This condition is called pleuritis.
Angina pectoris-
Angina is a symptom of coronary artery disease. When there is a blockage in the veins carrying blood to a person's heart or due to any reason the blood flow to the heart slows down due to which pain or discomfort is felt in the chest.
Coronary artery dissection-
A hole or scratch in a coronary artery due to some reason is called coronary artery dissection. In this condition, there is a sudden sensation in the chest accompanied by severe pain, which affects many parts of the body such as the neck, back or abdomen.
Peripheral Vascular Disease-
Pain in the arteries of the heart is called peripheral vascular disease (P.V.D). This problem arises when the circulation of blood in the arteries that supply blood to the brain and the internal organs of the body connected with the heart starts getting obstructed which causes pain in the chest.

Prevention methods for Chest pain
- Avoid extreme cold environments.
- Do not consume too much salt while eating.
- Exercise daily.
- Eat fibre-rich foods in the diet.
- Avoid consuming calorie-rich foods.
- Avoid smoking, tobacco and alcohol consumption.
- Drink fresh pomegranate juice daily.
Home remedies for Chest pain
Garlic-
According to research done on this, daily consumption of garlic reduces the chances of heart disease. It lowers cholesterol and prevents plaque from reaching the arteries. It also helps in improving blood flow. Therefore, taking 1 teaspoon of garlic juice in hot water every day is beneficial in chest pain and heart diseases. Apart from this, chewing one garlic bud and 2 cloves daily is also beneficial.
Ginger-
Consumption of ginger is also useful in heart-related diseases. Ginger contains a compound called gingerol which lowers cholesterol levels. Apart from this, antioxidants are present in ginger which protect the blood vessels from getting damaged. For this reason, it is beneficial to consume ginger tea daily.
Almond-
Almonds are rich in poly natural fatty acids and magnesium which reduces the risk of chest pain. Apart from this, mix almond oil and rose oil in equal quantities in case of chest pain. Now apply this mixture to the chest with light hands.
Turmeric-
Curcumin is found in abundance in turmeric which helps in clotting and reducing arterial plaque. Apart from this, curcumin also reduces swelling of the chest which provides relief from chest pain. For this, drink turmeric mixed with warm milk daily. By doing this, chest pain gets relief.
Basil-
Basil leaves are rich in vitamin K and magnesium. The magnesium present in it prevents the build-up of cholesterol in the bloodstream to the heart. It is also helpful in treating heart disorders as well as chest pain. For this, taking one spoon of basil juice with honey or eating 8-10 basil leaves also provides relief in chest pain.
Aloe vera-
Many medicinal properties are found in Aloe Vera which help to keep the heart healthy, control cholesterol and reduce blood pressure. All these factors work to provide relief from chest pain. For this, take 1/4 cup of aloe vera juice with warm water daily.
