जटामांसी एक छोटा, सुंगधित शाक होती है। यह हिमालयी क्षेत्र में पाए जाने वाली जड़ी-बूटी होती है।जोपहाड़ों पर बर्फ में पैदा होती है। इसको जटामांसी इसलिए कहा जाता है। क्योंकि इसकीजड़ों में जटा या बाल जैसे तंतु लगे होते हैं। इसका पौधा 10-60 सेमी ऊंचा, सीधा, बहुवर्षायु और शाकीय होता है। इसके तने का ऊपरीभाग रोम वाला औरआधा भाग रोमहीन होता है। भूमि के ऊपर जटामांसी की जड़ों से कई शाखाएं निकलती हैं। जो 6-7 अंगुल तक सघन, बारीक, जटाकार औररोमयुक्त होती हैं। जटामांसी के पत्ते भी हर्बल और पारंपरिक चिकित्सा में उपयोग किए जाते हैं। दुर्गन्ध, शामक, रोगाणुरोधी और सूजन को कम करने वाले गुणों की वजह से इसको आवश्यक तेल के रूप में प्रयोग किया जाता है। जटामांसी औषधीय जड़ी-बूटी का इस्तेमाल तीक्ष्ण गंध वाला परफ्यूम और दवा बनाने के लिए भी किया जाता है।

क्या होता है जायफल? जानें, इसके फायदे और उपयोग

जायफल का एक सदाबाहर पेड़ होता है। जिसमें फल लगते हैं। इन फलों के बीज को ही जायफल कहा जाता है। यह एक एशियाई मसाला है। जिसका वैज्ञानिक नाम मिरिस्टिका फ्रग्रंस (Myristicafragrans) है। यह एक मात्र ऐसा पेड़ है, जो दो लोकप्रिय मसालों पहला जायफल और दूसरा जावित्री का स्रोत है। जायफल 1 से 2 इंच लंबा और देखने में छोटी नाशपाती की तरह लगता है। जिसमें हल्के लाल या पीले रंग का गूदा होता है। यह फल पकने पर दो भागों में बट जाता है। जिसके अंदर लाल रेशे युक्‍त पदार्थ दिखाई देता है। इसी को जावित्री कहते हैं। जावित्री के अंदर एक गुठली होती है। जिसके ऊपरी भाग को तोड़कर बीज निकाला जाता है। जिसे जायफल कहते हैं। जायफल को अंग्रेजी में नटमेग (nutmeg) और संस्कृत में जातीफल के नाम से जाना जाता है। जायफल एवं जावित्री दोनों का स्वाद लगभग समान होता है। लेकिन जावित्री की तुलना मे जायफल तासीर से अधिक गर्म और स्‍वाद में ज्‍यादा तीखा (spicier flavour) होता है।

जायफल का उपयोग आयुर्वेद में कई सालों से किया जाता रहा है। जायफल में एंटीमाइक्रोबियल, एंटिफंगल, एंटीसेप्टिक, एंटीवायरल, एनाल्जेसिक और उत्तेजक गुण पाए जाते हैं। जो शरीर को कई प्रकार से फायदा पहुंचाने का काम करते हैं। जायफल के सेवन से भूख बढ़ती है, उल्टी रूकती है, पेट की गैस, अधिक प्यास लगने की समस्या और कफ-पित्त दोष ठीक होते हैं। इसके साथ ही रक्त विकार, सांस की बीमारी, हिचकी और टीबी जैसे रोग में भी जायफल का उपयोग फायदेमंद होता है। जायफल में कई ऐसे खनिज भी होते हैं जो शरीर के लिए बेहद उपयोगी होते हैं। जायफल तेल और साबूद दोनों ही रूप में मिल जाता है। इसके अलावा भारत में जायफल का इस्तेमाल मसाले के रूप में अधिक प्रचलित है।

अनिद्रा अर्थात नींद न आना कई कारणों से होती है। जिसमें चिंता, तनाव, अवसाद आदि शामिल है। ऐसे में जायफल का सेवन करना अच्छा होता है। इस पर किए गए शोध से पता चलता है कि जायफल के जलीय अर्क में एनजियोलिटिक (anxiolytic) गुण पाए जाते हैं। जो चिंता को दूर करने में सहायक होते हैं। साथ ही इसमें एंटीडिप्रेसेंट गुण भी पाया जाता है। जो तनाव और अवसाद को कम करने में कारगर साबित होते हैं। जिससे अच्छी नींद आती है। इस प्रकार एक चम्मच जायफल के तेल या चूर्ण को दूध में मिलाकर सेवन करने से अनिद्रा की परेशानी दूर होती है।

 
सर्दी-खांसी में असरदार-

जायफल के गुण में खांसी और सर्दी से बचाव भी शामिल है। जायफल में एंटी इंफ्लेमेटरी प्रभाव होता है। जो सर्दी और खांसी को कम कर सकता है। यह एक्सपेक्टोरेंट की तरह काम करता है। जो पूरे बलगम को मुंह से निकालकर ऊपरी श्वसन तंत्र को साफ करता है। इसके लिए जायफल को पानी में घिसकर नाक के नथुनों पर रखें। ऐसा करने से बंद नाक खुल जाती है। साथ ही सिर दर्द भी ठीक होता है। इसके अलावा एक चुटकी जायफल के चूर्ण को दूध में मिलाकर लेने से जुकाम ठीक हो जाता है।

जायफल का उपयोग दर्द निवारक के रूप में किया जाता है। डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ फार्मास्यूटिकल साइंसेज (शिकागो) के द्वारा किए गए शोध से पता चलता है कि जायफल के अर्क में एनाल्जेसिक (analgesic) गुण पाया जाता है। जो दर्द को दूर करने में सहायक होता है। इसके लिए जायफल के अर्क और सरसों के तेल को बराबर मात्रा में मिलाकर प्रभावित अंगो पर लगाएं। ऐसा करने से शरीर में होने वाले दर्द से छुटकारा मिलता हैं।
