Bhumi Amla is known for its medicinal properties for the treatment of many diseases. It helps in curing problems like fever, cough, itching, phlegm, and excessive thirst. Apart from this, bhumi Amla is considered a divine medicine for loss of appetite, sexual arousal, gastric acid and other stomach problems, kidney stones and all kinds of liver diseases. Antiviral properties and antioxidants are present in bhumi Amla.

 
What is Bhumi amla?

Bhumi amla is astringent and sweet in taste. It is obtained from small plants produced during the rainy season. After flowering and fruiting in autumn, its plants dry up in the summer season. The fruit obtained from this plant, which is called bhumi Amla in common language, is round in appearance and small in size. Therefore, it is also called Bhudhatri and Bhumyamal in some places. The botanical name of bhumi Amla is Phyllanthus niruri.

 
Benefits of Bhumi Amla
For eye disease

Grinding bhumi amla with rock salt and water in a copper vessel, applying it outside the eyes is beneficial in diseases related to eyes.

 
For headache

Mixing ingredients like bhumi Amla, Pippali, Sariva, Red Sandalwood and Atis in ghee and taking it regularly provides relief in headaches.

 
For mouth ulcers

Gargling with a decoction made from bhumi amla leaves cures mouth ulcers quickly.

 
For intestinal diseases

Dry the bhumi amla in the shade and keep it coarsely ground and cook 10 grams bhumi amla in 400 ml water till it reduces to less than one-fourth. Now drink this water every morning on an empty stomach and at night one hour before meals. Doing this helps in the quick healing of intestinal wounds and ulcers.

 
For Menstrual disorders

Grinding bhumi amla seeds and drinking with washed rice water twice or thrice a day is beneficial in menstrual disorders. By doing this, there is also a reduction in excessive blood flow during menstruation.

 
For swollen breasts

Grinding bhumi Amla Panchang and applying it on the breasts helps in reducing the swelling of the breasts.

 
For Tuberculosis

Cooking bhumi amla, red sandalwood, pippali, sariva and atis in ghee and taking it is beneficial in tuberculosis.

 
For cough
  • Heat 50 grams bhumi Amla Panchang in half a litre of water and cook it till it becomes one fourth. Now taking one spoonful of this decoction twice a day provides relief in respiratory diseases.
  • Mixing ingredients like bhumi Amla, Pippali, Sariva, Red sandalwood and Atis in ghee, taking regular intake also provides relief in cough.
For stomach disease
  • Boil the leaves of bhumi amla in water and filter that water and drink it, it provides relief in stomachache.
  • Make a decoction of the leaves and root of bhumi amla and take it twice a day, it is beneficial in ascites disease.
  • Heat 50 grams bhumi Amla Panchang in half a litre of water and cook it till it becomes one fourth. Now taking one spoon of this decoction thrice a day is beneficial in ascites disease.
For diarrhoea
  • Heat 50 grams bhumi Amla Panchang in 400 ml water and cook it till it becomes one fourth. Now add 5 grams of fenugreek powder to it and drink it slowly. Doing this provides relief in diarrhoea.
  • Boil 20 grams bhumi amla leaves in 200 ml water, filter it and sip it slowly, it ends diarrhoea.
For fever
  • Grind soft leaves of bhumi amla with black pepper, then make tablets of it and take one tablet twice a day. This helps in curing fever.
  • Mixing ingredients like bhumi Amla, Pippali, Sariva, Red Sandalwood and Atis in ghee and taking it regularly also provides relief in fever.
  • Cooking Bala, bhumi Amla, Gokhru, Nimb, Parpat, and Nagarmotha in ghee and taking it, is also beneficial in a high fever.
 
For itching
  • Grinding the leaves of gooseberry, adding salt to it and applying it on the itchy area ends itching.
  • Grinding the tender leaves of gooseberry on the injury and applying it provides relief to the injury and its pain.
 
For respiratory disease
  • Gooseberry is very beneficial in respiratory diseases. Grind the root of bhumi amla with the help of water. Now add sugar candy or honey and consume it. It is beneficial in respiratory diseases through the nasal passages.
  • Heat 50 grams bhumi Amla Panchang in half a litre of water and cook it till it becomes one fourth. Now taking one spoonful of this decoction twice a day provides relief in respiratory diseases.
To cure wounds
  • It is good to wash the wound with a decoction made from bhumi Amla leaves.
  • Applying the juice of bhumi amla on the wound heals the wound quickly.
  • Applying a paste of bhumi amla leaves on the wound heals quickly.
  • To cure the swelling of the wound, ground Amla Panchang with rice water can be applied to the wound.

Where is Bhumi Amla found?
