In modern times, many diseases surround the human body, the biggest reason for this is the changing environment and unhealthy eating habits which include increased intake of junk food, decreased physical exertion, and increased stress. One of these diseases is the problem of gastritis which can cause trouble for a person of any age. Nowadays, there is a problem of gastritis from children to the elderly.

 
What is Gastritis?

Gastritis is a stomach-related problem that is caused by inflammation in the lining of the stomach. In fact, cells found in mucous produce acids and enzymes which help to digest food and break it into small pieces of food but when there is gastritis, there is a problem with this activity due to which the production of stomach acid, hormones, and mucus are not done properly. As a result, there is swelling, irritation, and discomfort in the stomach. It can be sudden, rapid, and slow (chronic), or both ways.

 
Symptoms of Gastritis

Different symptoms of gastritis are seen differently in individuals but there are also some common symptoms, which are seen in almost everyone which are as follows:

  • Abdominal swelling and pain.
  • Sour belching.
  • Restlessness or fainting.
  • Fast heartbeat.
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea or vomiting.
  • Hick up.
  • Stomach irritation or stomach upset.

Some other complicated symptoms of gastritis are also seen which are as follows-

  • Vomiting of blood.
  • Smell strong with faces.
  • Always feeling full.
  • Severe nervousness or restlessness.
  • Bleeding in the stool.
What Causes Gastritis?

Gastritis is caused by a bacterium called Helicobacter pylori. This bacterium mainly resides in the mucus lining of the stomach which causes stomach infection. This infection is caused by contaminated food and water. Apart from this, there are many other reasons that people can suffer from gastritis problems.

 
Let us know about these reasons-
  • On consuming more alcohol.
  • When allergic to foods.
  • Consumption of gas-producing food such as beans, peas, cakes, sour fruits, cauliflower, cabbage, etc.
  • On consuming heavy foods.
  • For not eating at the right time.
  • On consuming more oil and chilli spices.
  • On overuse of aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs.
Types of Gastritis
Acute gastritis-

A person suffering from this type of gastritis suddenly starts having flatulence. The problem of acute gastritis arises more in people who consume nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or alcohol which get better with home remedies.

 
Chronic gastritis-

In this, there is swelling in the upper layer of the stomach along with flatulence. This type of gastritis leads to peptic ulcer, anaemia, internal bleeding, gastric cancer, kidney problems, etc. which cannot be cured without treatment.

 
Erosive gastritis-

Flatulence is common in erosive gastritis. Apart from this, there is not much swelling in it but it can also cause ulcers and bleeding in the stomach lining.

 
Keep these things in mind during Gastritis
  • Include fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet.
  • Eat more fibre-rich foods such as legumes and whole grains.
  • Drink a sufficient amount of water daily.
  • Avoid consumption of fried and junk food.
  • Chew the food and eat it.
  • Do not drink water while eating.
  • Do not consume alcohol at all.
  • Walk and exercise regularly in the morning.
Home Remedies for Gastritis
Lukewarm water-

Drinking lukewarm water also provides relief in stomach pain due to indigestion. Apart from this, drinking boiled cumin seeds in hot water provides immediate relief in case of gastric problems.

 
Lemonade-

Citric acid is found in abundance in lemon which acts as an antioxidant. According to researchers, the citric acid found in lemon reduces bacterial infection that causes gas problems. For this drink a glass of lukewarm water mixed with lemon juice.

 
Coconut water-

Drinking coconut water is a good option in the problem of gastritis. It has an antioxidant and gastroprotective activity which provides relief in the problem of gas formation.

 
Aloe vera juice-

Aloe vera has anti-bacterial properties which help to remove the infection of bacteria called Helicobacter pylori. Therefore, it is very beneficial to drink aloe vera juice in your daily routine to get rid of problems like gastritis.

 
Celery-

Thymol content is high in celery which increases the secretion of gastric juice. It also helps in better absorption of food due to which it becomes easier to pass the stool. As a result, the problem of constipation is relieved.

 
Consumption of asafoetida-

Asafoetida helps in dealing with digestive problems. For this, drinking a pinch of asafetida powder with lukewarm water cures problems like indigestion. Apart from this, the consumption of asafetida helps in flushing out all the harmful toxins from the digestive system. In addition, it regulates the digestion process and normalizes the pH level of the stomach.

 
Fennel-

Diseases like abdominal pain, bloating, gas and acidity affect the whole body. Fennel is considered one of the best home remedies to get rid of these diseases. By making powder of fennel and consuming it with lukewarm water, stomach-related disorders are cured.

 
Black pepper-

In Ayurveda, black pepper is considered an effective treatment for gastric problems. Black pepper increases the amount of saliva and gastric juice in the body due to which the digestion process is easy and gets rid of gastritis.

 
Peppermint oil-

Peppermint oil has long been used to improve the digestive system and treat stomach problems like diarrhoea, gas, constipation. Apart from this, peppermint oil is also used for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. For this, drinking 2 or 3 drops of mint extract mixed with half a glass of lukewarm water provides relief.

 
Buttermilk-

Consumption of buttermilk heals the digestive system because lactic acid is found present in it which removes problems like gastritis. Apart from this, consuming it with black salt also helps in removing stomach irritation and indigestion.

 
Ginger-

Drinking ginger juice mixed with hot water and sugar cures all diseases like gas and acidity. In Ayurveda, this mixture is considered effective in curing stomach-related diseases. Apart from this, black tea with ginger can also be drunk for acidity.
